The future for learning? or A Marketing Strategy from University & or Apple?
For some reason, the ladies in the picture below, whom are holding the Free iPhones & iPods doesnt seem very happy or excited? More homework sent to iPhone?
(source) for freshmen attending Abilene Christian University this fall, a free iPhone or iPod Touch will be given to them as part of their learning experience.
The university has developed 15 web applications for these two media devices to help students receive homework alerts, answer in-class surveys and quizzes, get directions to their professors’ offices, and check their meal and account balances among other things.
I wonder whether would that have any effect on their school fees? And of course, this cool gadget could be extremely distracting.
That aside, this could spell very interesting posibilities for software/applications development for the students, if they can collaborate with Apple to create specific aplications for the students/university’s specific needs.
A win-win situtation for Apple and the students and the university?
