Barack Obama & Bill Pullman

One of my all time favourite movie scenes is at Independance Day, where Bill Pullman was the President of USA, he made a speech to bring people together to fight aliens. I still enjoy watching it today, you can watch it below.

If you compare “President” Bill Pullman’s speech and President Elect Obama’s speech, there are lots of similarity:

1) America is in BIG Trouble -> We have Common Enemies

2) Cast our differences aside, Unite, and fight against our enemy

3) Faces of Americans looking towards their leader for hope & inspiration

Watching Obama became President is like watching a movie. I was in USA for 5 out of the past 12 months, and I have always been charmed to listen to this man: his speeches, his debates, etc. Maybe he has a very nice voice, maybe he has lots of charisma or maybe he just seems like a very intelligent and admirable man, someone that I can learn a lot from.

From a non-American point of view, this is a story about a man who did what most people said he can’t. He has started with humble beginnings, but that did not stop him from becoming the most powerful man in the world. Yes, We CAN! Choose Hope, over Fear. Choose Action, over inaction. Is there something in our lifes that we really want to change? Money not enough? Work Sucks? Boring Life? Change IT! Yes WE CAN!

I especially like how he (and/or his speech writer) ended his speech:

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves – if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment.

Yes We Can! Watch Obamas Speech! And I hope you will be inspired to Change for the Better!

And of course, not forgetting the “Independance Day Speech”

P.A.S.S. – Recycling for Charity!

Snaped this picture of these people doing recycling for charity at Taman Megah, Malaysia!

I guess the awareness for recycling amongst our society (Malaysia & Singapore) is quite prominent, especially with all the ‘brain-washing’ during schooling days and the tv ads.

But of course, to translate these awareness into ‘green-action’, requires a favourable environment to do so. And thanks to P.A.S.S. who has volunteers to collect recycleble rubbish from the public, they provide a channel for people whom wants to be environmentally friendly to dispose their rubbish to the appropriate people who does recycling. Kudos P.A.S.S!!! Keep up the good work! For more info of P.A.S.S. click here.

Co-incidentally, there were reporters from ASTRO AEC doing a story on this recycling activity. And I got interviewed! You might see me on TV sometime!
