I blogged about Porter Ellett, the one arm basketball player not too long ago. And here is another extraordinary story of a man living his dreams despite disability.
Known as the “Blade Runner” and “the fastest man on no legs”, Oscar Pistorius is the double amputee world record holder in the 100, 200 and 400 metres events and runs with the aid of Cheetah Flex-Foot carbon fibre transtibial artificial limbs
Oscar’s dream is to compete in the Beijing Olympics 400m race. After being ruled out of the competition, on the grounds that his “legs” are deviced to give an advantage over other atheletes, this decision was overturned.
And as the famous saying goes,
You’re not disabled by the disabilities you have, you are able by the abilities you have.
This will definitely be an event to look out for in the Beijing Olympics this year. My best wishes to you, and Fight On Man!
